The best warm-weather reds tend to be the lighter-side-of-medium-bodied, with brighter acidity, supple tannins, and a runch fruit qulity to them.

This little selection goes slightly left-field in where the wines are from as this is also the perfect opportunity to maybe try red wines you might not have (as you should be drinking white, or rose anyway, right?..)

I hope you enjoy these as much as we have been doing - theres a few wine bar staff favourites in here.

Romania might not be the first place that comes to mind for Pinot Noir, but Calusari's version is silky, red-fruited, and easy-drinking — perfect for a warm evening on the terrace. From Portugal's Douro Valley, better known for its bold, structured reds, A River Runs Through It offers a lighter, more approachable style that still carries the region's signature character, ideal alongside grilled fish or a summer barbecue. Turkey's indigenous Kalecik Karası is a genuine discovery: juicy, aromatic, and food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with mezze spreads and warm-weather sharing plates.

Italy's Molise region isn't widely known, which makes Anima Osca's red all the more exciting — a rustic, sun-soaked wine with real personality. Austria, meanwhile, continues to surprise, with reds made from its lovely Blaufränkisch grape variety, and Funkstille's take is peppery, energetic, and made for lightly chilling. Finally, from a top Rhône winemaker comes Micro-Cosme, a Pinot Noir–Grenache blend that bridges Burgundian elegance with Rhône warmth — a versatile bottle that works equally well on its own or with lighter grilled meats.

Serve slightly cool, around 12–14°C to bring out some summer-beating freshness!
