The wines of Pyramid Valley are born in the dramatic limestone and clay derived soils and slopes of the estate farm in Waikari, North Canterbury. A unique high-altitude site that is home to some of the most profound Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines in the world. Mike and Claudia Elze Weersing spent 15 years searching the world to find this perfect place, which they finally purchased in 2000. Together, Mike and Claudia created remarkable wines for close to 20 years that have been recognised the world over.

Tasting note
Dense and richly coloured. On the nose, dark cherry compote, aromatic complexity with  notes of star anise, fennel, clove and orange peel. In the mouth, it is creamy textured, and broad, on the fuller side of medium-bodied for sure - There’s sour cherry and strawberry top, the plush fruit flavours come with hints of wild flowers, fresh tobacco leaf and a black tea character laced through the finish. A wine of several parts. Complex, textural and fresh. In relative terms, this fine Pinot Noir punches well above it's weight.

96 Points – Cameron Douglas, MS “There’s no mistaking the sense of place with aromas of white soil and wild flowers, the varietal signature of red berries with cherry and old strawberry sitting nicely alongside moments of plum, then spice. Fine tannins and acidity salivate and coat the palate with texture and finesse while red fruits and wild flowers are at the core and mid-palate. Youthful and new, complex and varietal, a wine of place and time, complexity and charm. Best drinking from 2024 through 2034+.”
